Around half of the ships entered with the club are dry cargo barges and general cargo ships. Of particular interest to such operators is the cargo cover provided by the club. As well as the standard cover for loss, shortage or damage to cargo, the club is able to provide a wide range of additional covers.
These include:
- Consortium cover, where the loss occurs on a ship not owned or operated by the member, but on a ship operating in a consortium or other space-sharing arrangement in which the member participates,
- Through transport cover for liabilities arising on land, such as personal injury and property damage, out of the carriage of cargo before or after the ocean transportation.
- Extended cargo cover: To provide additional cover for liabilities accepted beyond normal Hague Visby / Hamburg Rules terms.
- Deviation risks: For cargo liabilities arising out of a range of events, including geographical and non-geographical deviations from the cargo carriage contract.
- GA absorption to enable a member to avoid, in some circumstances, collecting GA contributions from cargo owners.
