A charterer is exposed to many of the same risks as a shipowner, and club cover provides insurance for such third party liabilities. In addition, a charterer may incur liabilities to an owner for damage to the ship or its equipment, including bunkers. Such additional liabilities can be insured under the club’s damage to hull product. The club normally offers charterers a cover limit of US$350m for P&I risks, and US$100m for damage to hull cover. Higher limits are available.
